The Paper Perineum: An accessible model for obstetric laceration education

In this presentation, Dr. Christopher Hong will share his innovative tool for understanding pelvic floor anatomy: The Paper Perineum.
An accessible, origami-inspired model for obstetric laceration education.

The Paper Perineum is a free, educational model that can be printed, cut, and folded into a three-dimensional shape representing the vagina, perineum, and anal sphincter complex.
Originally designed for use on labor and delivery units, the Paper Perineum is the most accessible three-dimensional model for obstetric laceration education.
Different portions of the model can be excised to simulate a variety of obstetric lacerations, including:

  • Perineal lacerations
  • Obstetric anal sphincter injuries
  • Vaginal sulcal lacerations
  • Episiotomies
