Nell Tharpe teaches at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) and Birthwise Midwifery School. After 20 years in hospital-based midwifery, she shifted her focus to education, writing, and advocacy for high standards in midwifery care. She has been teaching perineal repair workshops for midwives for many years and remains actively involved through continuing education programs, professional writing, and engagement with ACNM, the CPM community, and national midwifery initiatives.
