    Early secondary repair

Speakers: Midwife Eva Dimon and Urogynecologist PhD Marianne Glavind-Kristensen.

All women giving birth in Aarhus University Hospital are offered a postnatal screening of the outcome of their perineal repair.

This screening is carried out during a routine visit 2-3 days after birth along with a neonatal hearing test and breastfeeding support.

In case of suture breakdown, early secondary perineal repair is offered within the first weeks postpartum.

Eva and Marianne will present 13 years of experience from the Postnatal Clinic:

    • How to evaluate that the primary diagnosis and repair were sufficient
    • Cases of infection and suture breakdown
    • How to give feedback to midwives and doctors about their suturing skills
    • Mothers and fathers: what do they think about checking the stitches
